The departure of the four-masted barque Pamir from Welling-
ton in February, 1949, after a memo[...]amn as their
port of registry. Among them was the Pamir which, in the course
of her third visit to New Ze[...]ctim of the misfortune of war.

The advent of the Pamir was to give scores of youthful New
Zealanders the[...],
whether alongside or under way in harbour.

The Pamir was getting on in years when she found her way
in[...]the initial letter “P”. The completion of the Pamir brought
the Laeisz fleet to 18, among them the o[...]igned and built solely for the Chilean trade,
the Pamir was a typical Cape Horner of her time. Her dimens[...]nd crew, 66 feet; and poop 16 feet in length. The

masted barque Pamir was a firm favourite with the New Zealand
public[...]er the
greater part of her mercantile fleet, the Pamir going to Italy.
In March 1920 she left Teneriffe[...]g back some of their former ships, among
them the Pamir. In March 1924 she returned to Hamburg whe[...]
[...]he Cape Horners
became numbered. In July 1931 the Pamir arrived in Hamburg
where she was laid up, and in[...]1930’s acquired a fleet of
14 large ships. The Pamir made her first voyage under Erikson’s
housefla[...]red to Sydney for her cargo of wheat. In
1938 the Pamir paid her first visit to New Zealand, bringing
4,3[...]ckel ore for Germany.

The onset of war found the Pamir at Gothenburg and it
was not until March 1940 tha[...]s a prize of war. After discharging her guano the Pamir lay
idle for some months until the general shorta[...]ppointed master,
and wool- and tallow—laden the Pamir sailed from Wellington on
30th March 1942 on the[...]ain H. S. Collier took command and
in ballast the Pamir sailed down to Lyttelton and timber—laden
cross[...]d 13 days. In September it
was announced that the Pamir was to load wool and tallow for
London, th[...]
[...]full sail.
Two days later, on 23rd December, the Pamir arrived in London,
having sailed 13,363 miles at[...]friendship the Government decided to restore
the Pamir to Finland——no doubt influenced by considera[...]sailed
for Queenstown or Falmouth for orders, the Pamir arriving
at the latter port 127 days after sailin[...]a German shipowner, and others purchased both the
Pamir and Passat for use as training vessels in conjunc[...]in the net to 2,509 tons.

At the end of 1951 the Pamir commenced her first voyage
in her new role, taki[...]adets served in the
barques. In February 1955 the Pamir resumed service, regularly
voyaging to the River[...]seen

in English Channel ports.
In Iune 1957 the Pamir sailed in ballast for Buenos Aires
