It was bitterly cold that day as Pamir was towed down the
Strait, furling all sail. Reme[...]tug proceeded down the Strait at 4 knots and had Pamir
at the quarantine station off Victoria by 8.30 on the Wednesday
morning. Iust after midnight that day Pamir was alongside at
Vancouver for the second time, 68 days out from Wellington.

When the Pamir was outward bound off Cape Flattery

As Snohomish proceeded with Pamir in tow, the men aboard
the latter noted that the[...]decision was made to put sail on immediately——Pamir
couldn’t afford to take the chance of being cau[...]hotos
the like of which seldom fall to anyone. As Pamir put on sail
she began to overhaul the Sno/zomish.[...]most
of their unparalleled opportunity. When the Pamir came up on
the tug’s quarter, the Snohomish's skipper became rather anxious,
because Pamir could have pulled “Sno” around and perhaps
un[...]n those seas. The skipper told the
mate to signal Pamir to let go. The mate was Iim Talbot, now
Captain T[...]they let go. And he, too,
got a fantastic shot of Pamir as she raced past.
