1879-1909 USSCoAdditional NotesBuilt in Glasgow for local owners in 1864 and sold to Union Company in 1879. Union Company did intend to name her Tarawera. Was the pioneer ship on the Wellington Lyttelton inter-island service in 1895 and was later transferred to the Wellington, Picton, Nelson service but came to a tragic end when she sunk south of Karori rock in 1909 with the loss of 75 lives when bound to Wellington from Picton.
