DescriptionBuilt especially for the Wellington Picton service. TAMAHINE made on average 6 crossing of Cook Strait per week compared to the present ARAHURA and ARATERE which make on average 40 crossings per week. She was also used on special weekend cruises to the Marlborough Sounds. Replaced by rail ferry ARAMOANA in August 1962 by which time it was estimated she had made 15000 crossings of Cook Strait.
